Depart from your hotel for a two days trip to Delphi and Meteora to explore some of the greatest archaelogical sites of Greece.
Delphi is one of the most important archaelogical sites of Greece, established in the plain beauty of the Greek nature. On the orther hand, Meteora is a place where nature built a real miracle, containing several great rocks that look as if they can touch the sky. On these rocks, there are great monasteries, built in a unique way. In a region of almost inaccessible sandstone peaks, monks settled on these ‘columns of the sky’ from the 11th century onwards.
We will pick you up from your hotel and we will leave for Delphi via Thebes and Levadia. Arrive in Delphi and visit the Archaeological Site (the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, the Treasury of the Athenians and the Temple of Apollo). After the visit depart for Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks and crowded by the Meteora Monasteries. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
In the morning we will visit Meteora and enjoy a unique and impressive scenery with ageless Byzantine Monasteries (containing priceless historical and religious treasures) built on the top of rocks towers. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida's Monument) and arrive in Athens early in the evening.
